HbA1c

This test reflects a patients long-term glycaemic control. It should be ordered on the following patients who attend the Pre-Operative Assessment Clinic.

• Patients with Diabetes Mellitus (Type 1 or 2)
• Patients using insulin
• Patients with a BMI > 35

If the result of this test is >69mmol/L, would healing may be impaired and endocrinology involvement is indicated.
